Kristin & Brannon Wedding

Kristin & Brannon,
When we first met, Kristin was an incredibly excited bride, super energetic, and incredibly sweet. She is also maybe the most well-organized bride I’ve spoken with when it comes to emails, scheduling, and asking questions:)– Brannon was pretty quiet and mild when we first met (during the client meeting)…I believe his first words were “Hello, how are you?” followed by “Do you all want to order drinks?” some time around 20 minutes later. He’s was so laid back, Kristin assured us he’d be wearing sandals every time we met him.

Nevermind the bridesmaid leaving her dress at home – Brannon & Kristin were pretty stress free and both really excited to get photos started. They chose to see each other beforehand with a revealing, and as we’ve said time and again, you just get more photos that way! It also gives you a chance to have a moment between the two of you before your day to breathe easy & shake off the jitters, look out into your day, and take solace in each other before the ceremony starts. Like you’ll see Here. Oh, and Brannon wasn’t wearing sandals today, but he still looked snazzy!

Their wedding was held at Captain’s Quarters which provided waterfront photo opportunities. During their ceremony they had found a great idea for a unity symbol. Instead of doing a candle or sand they did colored granules of glass which they later sent off to have melted and blown into their own glass sculpture – very cool! And after seeing the results I’d recommend it to anyone.

Finally all the fun starts – their reception was held on the CQ Princess Yacht departing from Captains Quarters. A beautiful ship tour around downtown Louisville with an open bar and a bunch of wild people! Here everyone really let go and were really themselves. Remember that calm easy going Brannon I told you about? Remember the sweet formal girly bride I mentioned? NO more! There was so much drinking, partying, laughing, and air guitar that everything’s a blur even for this photographer (except the photos). …Oh snap, a photography joke. Get it? every things a “blur” followed by “Oh snap”…I keep telling you all I have the funniest jokes ever! And YOU just witnessed history in the making! You’ll just have to go to the gallery folks…

Kristin & Brannon, we really had a blast hanging out with you all on your wedding day. By the end of it, we’re really all just friends and we’re just there to help celebrate your day. We’re so honored to be a part of it and we really wish you all the best! You’ll be there for each other to keep each other happy, wild, and fun.. and Brannon – when you’ve visited the open bar so many times they cut you off at your own wedding, when you nearly knock over your wedding cake [table], when they won’t serve you even back on shore because you were on the boat and got too rowdy – your beautiful bride will be there to reel you back in and put you to bed. Cheers!

Jacob & Marie Wedding

>After their private ceremony, Jacob and Marie invited their friends and family to Lake Iola in Indiana to celebrate! Weddings, especially when it is your friends who get married, are always a great time with the smiles, dancing, laughter, and the food ;).
Not only were the vibes and couple beautiful all around, the location made for absolutely stunning photographs. You could tell that nothing was going to rain on their parade…well it did rain for a brief moment but only to result in a rainbow. Congratulations Jacob and Marie!

Spring Time Session with Owen

Springtime finally kicked in and gave us a good day to shoot down at Louisville Waterfront Park. Here in Kentuckiana Easter and Derby are notorious for being frigid spring days. So these days, where the sun in shining and the weather is above 50°, are a blessing because spring tends to settle in late around here.

Enough about the weather, lets talk about the adorable little man we photographed, Owen. Owen is a model in the making with all of his poses and cheesing faces. His suit and tie he wore so well gave him that much extra charm for the camera. There was no hesitation from this guy for his photos.

We had a quick outfit change and stopped by the facade of the Heigold House where he strikes up his magazine style stances. You get to see a few of these photos from the sessions. Couldn’t have asked for a more fun way to kick start 502photos spring sessions! ツ

Stephanie & Chad Wedding

Stephy and Chad,

You two are wonderfully down to earth, you have a circle of friends who are lucky to be in your lives, and a family that I’m sure will support you whenever you need anything at all.

When I met Chad and Stephy it was until just before their wedding. Her Mother, Donna, had contacted me via phone and said that she was out of state, and she needed a photographer for her daughters wedding. (She also told me that her husband bought skinless chicken to make fried chicken and had no clue how she was going to do it…we discussed using egg (have I ever mentioned that I love food) etc. etc… Anyway, we eventually decided that we were all going to meet!

My first impressions of Stephy and Chad were that they’re both easy going. We met over breakfast at the Galt House and they didn’t have too much to say. The day of the wedding, however, these two were both excited. As soon as I showed up Chad had this overwhelming feeling of “The photographer’s here, we’ve got to start getting ready and now the pressures on.” Apparently my effect on grooms is to make them feel rushed. After I hung out with the guys for a couple of hours, I was made to feel right at home and the guys found their groove with me and relaxed [family guy and call of duty].

The night was filled with jokes, photos, and drunken Gangnum style… and you should’ve seen what was going on in the reception! (haha).

You know, it’s amazing how close you can feel to a family and their friends while shooting a single wedding. There are no filters, people are smiling, and friends & family are celebrating your inevitable future of love together. Jen and I were made to feel as welcome as possible. When a family hires you to take photos of one of the most important days of their lives they’re trusting you.. and when they feed you, make sure you’re feeling like a special guest on their day, and they’re wonderfully down to earth and everything they say to you is a way of saying “thanks for being here” – it just makes you feel welcomed.

Stephy and Chad, we spent a small time together, but in that small amount of time I learned that you have a circle of friends who are lucky to be in your lives, and a family that I’m sure will support you whenever you need anything at all. Jen and I wish you the best and if you’re ever down for pizza dial 502-WEDDING !

Meyer Christmas Tree

The Meyer Family went Christmas Tree Hunting

I tagged along in the beautiful weather with the Meyer family to the ‘ Meyer Christmas Tree Farm ‘ ( no relation oddly enough haha) as they picked out the perfect little tree to decorate for Christmas.

The Christmas Tree Farm had a range of trees to choose from; tall, short, fluffy, plump, thing & more! To find the best tree, we walked up and down the rows of green and marked their favorites.

As we neared the end of the tree patch, Rebecca and Levi, continued to say ” Lets go back to *our* tree…”, referring to the tree marked with a scarf. After seeing all the trees, it truly was the ideal Christmas Tree for the family to take home. It was an adorable family effort to witness and photograph.

The Meyer Christmas Tree Farm then helped shake, bundle and tie down the tree ; couldn’t ask for a better tree farm! After all the activities were done, I sat the family down to get a quick shot in some autumn leaves while showing the bare trees as we near the winter solstice.
