Spring Time Session with Owen

Springtime finally kicked in and gave us a good day to shoot down at Louisville Waterfront Park. Here in Kentuckiana Easter and Derby are notorious for being frigid spring days. So these days, where the sun in shining and the weather is above 50°, are a blessing because spring tends to settle in late around here.

Enough about the weather, lets talk about the adorable little man we photographed, Owen. Owen is a model in the making with all of his poses and cheesing faces. His suit and tie he wore so well gave him that much extra charm for the camera. There was no hesitation from this guy for his photos.

We couldn’t have asked for a more fun way to kick start 502photos spring sessions! ツ

Stephanie + Chad Wedding

Stephy and Chad,

You two are wonderfully down to earth, you have a circle of friends who are lucky to be in your lives, and a family that I’m sure will support you whenever you need anything at all.

When I met Chad and Stephy it was until just before their wedding. Her Mother, Donna, had contacted me via phone and said that she was out of state, and she needed a photographer for her daughters wedding. (She also told me that her husband bought skinless chicken to make fried chicken and had no clue how she was going to do it…we discussed using egg (have I ever mentioned that I love food) etc. etc… Anyway, we eventually decided that we were all going to meet!

My first impressions of Stephy and Chad were that they’re both easy going. We met over breakfast at the Galt House and they didn’t have too much to say. The day of the wedding, however, these two were both excited. As soon as I showed up Chad had this overwhelming feeling of “The photographer’s here, we’ve got to start getting ready and now the pressures on.” Apparently my effect on grooms is to make them feel rushed. After I hung out with the guys for a couple of hours, I was made to feel right at home and the guys found their groove with me and relaxed [family guy and call of duty].

The night was filled with jokes, photos, and drunken Gangnum style… and you should’ve seen what was going on in the reception! (haha).

You know, it’s amazing how close you can feel to a family and their friends while shooting a single wedding. There are no filters, people are smiling, and friends & family are celebrating your inevitable future of love together. We were made to feel as welcome as possible. When a family hires you to take photos of one of the most important days of their lives they’re trusting you.. and when they feed you, make sure you’re feeling like a special guest on their day, and they’re wonderfully down to earth and everything they say to you is a way of saying “thanks for being here” – it just makes you feel welcomed.

Stephy and Chad, we spent a small time together, but in that small amount of time we learned that you have a circle of friends who are lucky to be in your lives, and a family that we’re sure will support you whenever you need anything at all. We wish you the best and if you’re ever down for pizza dial 502-WEDDING !

Meyer Christmas Tree

The Meyer Family went Christmas Tree Hunting

I tagged along in the beautiful weather with the Meyer family to the ‘ Meyer Christmas Tree Farm ‘ ( no relation oddly enough haha) as they picked out the perfect little tree to decorate for Christmas.

The Christmas Tree Farm had a range of trees to choose from; tall, short, fluffy, plump, thing & more! To find the best tree, we walked up and down the rows of green and marked their favorites.

As we neared the end of the tree patch, Rebecca and Levi, continued to say ” Lets go back to *our* tree…”, referring to the tree marked with a scarf. After seeing all the trees, it truly was the ideal Christmas Tree for the family to take home. It was an adorable family effort to witness and photograph.

The Meyer Christmas Tree Farm then helped shake, bundle and tie down the tree ; couldn’t ask for a better tree farm! After all the activities were done, I sat the family down to get a quick shot in some autumn leaves while showing the bare trees as we near the winter solstice.

Derrick + Kim Wedding

There are some things in life that we believe you truly cannot control – like who makes you smile. When I’ve seen Kim and Derrick around each other the two of them do not quit smiling. Even if they’re just smiling just because one of them came up with something to banter back and forth about. We think the key to happiness in a marriage has to be something as simple as finding that person who you can’t help but to smile back at.

Kim, it ain’t about the cake – it’s about having a ginger kid who’s happy to help you pick up the pieces. Good luck to both of you!
