Maternity Session

Oh baby!
The omni hotel in Louisville allowed for an amazing view on the sky deck during Vanessas Baby shower. It was a shower, maternity session and family session all in one. She elegantly showed off her baby bump as her friends and family voted for “boy” or “girl” and enjoyed warm winter snacks and hot cocoa. As we celebrate and welcome a baby into the world we show of the beauty that is love!

Cory + Mary Wedding

When we met Cory and Mary we saw a family taking the next step. They really treated each other with endearment that you only have by having patience and care. Mary and Cory are both soft spoken, kind to their children (even when the little ones were throwing fits), and everything that was said to one another were things like “What do you think” and “Should we”…they were already so well-bonded before they were married. We really looked forward to working with them.

On the wedding day, we showed up early as usual to West End Baptist Church on 4th st. It’s a really beautiful cathedral style church. We took some scenery photos and then I played the piano that was there. I called Mary to tell her we were there and the poor girl had her car towed and had to get a ride, Cory had to pick up the car, and it was really more stress than excitement for them. But like I said, these are kind people who work together and by the end of the ceremony they got past it together.

The reception was a blast. Some families just get-down more than others and they weren’t afraid to use that dance floor. These young lovers put on a show for their friends and family. What I’ve always believed is that when you love each other and when you’re meant for each other – your wedding day is just a celebration of the two of you. The most successful wedding are like Cory and Mary’s – you’re just celebrating what you already have together and your friends & family are there to help.

These photos are filled with happy people, family and friends. And even with the bumps that are part of every wedding, these people only had kind things to say for Cory and Mary, and they spoke of how blessed they are.

Mary & Cory, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your celebration and family during your day.

Kate + Andrew Engagement

We always love engagement shoots. This engagement set was super easy to take – the soon to be bride and groom to be were smiling the whole time and all it took was maybe 5 minutes to get help them shake off the “a camera’s pointing at me jitters.” Katie and Andrew are a very cute couple complete with inside jokes, they smile every time their eyes meet, and their goofiness plays off each other in the kind of complementary way that we think young love should. They were willing to roll in the grass, make shadow puppets, and do silly things to make these photos a success… which they found easy by just being themselves. We finished off the day by eating at Joes Crabshack.. they were kind enough to treat us <3 …and WE LOVED the little “jalepeno balls of fire cream cheese bites” so much that we now have silly inside jokes with them and we smile when we make eye contact. (That’s right K&A, you have competition for cutest couple on that day!) Looks like you have a wedding in a little under a hundred days! Click Here to Visit The Gallery!

Kristin + Brannon Wedding

Kristin & Brannon,
When we first met, Kristin was an incredibly excited bride, super energetic, and incredibly sweet. She is also maybe the most well-organized bride we’ve spoken with when it comes to emails, scheduling, and asking questions 🙂 – Brannon was pretty quiet and mild when we first met (during the client meeting)…I believe his first words were “Hello, how are you?” followed by “Do you all want to order drinks?” some time around 20 minutes later. He’s was so laid back, Kristin assured us he’d be wearing sandals every time we met him.

Nevermind the bridesmaid leaving her dress at home – Brannon & Kristin were pretty stress free and both really excited to get photos started. They chose to see each other beforehand with a revealing, and as we’ve said time and again, you just get more photos that way! It also gives you a chance to have a moment between the two of you before your day to breathe easy & shake off the jitters, look out into your day, and take solace in each other before the ceremony starts. Like you’ll see Here. Oh, and Brannon wasn’t wearing sandals today, but he still looked snazzy!

Their wedding was held at Captain’s Quarters which provided waterfront photo opportunities. During their ceremony they had found a great idea for a unity symbol. Instead of doing a candle or sand they did colored granules of glass which they later sent off to have melted and blown into their own glass sculpture – very cool! And after seeing the results I’d recommend it to anyone.

Finally all the fun starts – their reception was held on the CQ Princess Yacht departing from Captains Quarters. A beautiful ship tour around downtown Louisville with an open bar and a bunch of wild people! Here everyone really let go and were really themselves. Remember that calm easy going Brannon I told you about? Remember the sweet formal girly bride we mentioned? NO more! There was so much drinking, partying, laughing, and air guitar that everything’s a blur even for this photographer (except the photos). …Oh snap, a photography joke. Get it? every things a “blur” followed by “Oh snap”…we keep telling you all, travis has the funniest jokes ever! And YOU just witnessed history in the making! You’ll just have to go to the gallery folks…

Kristin & Brannon, we really had a blast hanging out with you all on your wedding day. By the end of it, we’re really all just friends and we’re just there to help celebrate your day. We’re so honored to be a part of it and we really wish you all the best! You’ll be there for each other to keep each other happy, wild, and fun.. and Brannon – when you’ve visited the open bar so many times they cut you off at your own wedding, when you nearly knock over your wedding cake [table], when they won’t serve you even back on shore because you were on the boat and got too rowdy – your beautiful bride will be there to reel you back in and put you to bed. Cheers!

Jacob + Marie Wedding

After their private ceremony, Jacob and Marie invited their friends and family to Lake Iola in Indiana to celebrate! Weddings, especially when it is your friends who get married, are always a great time with the smiles, dancing, laughter, and the food ;).
Not only were the vibes and couple beautiful all around, the location made for absolutely stunning photographs. You could tell that nothing was going to rain on their parade…well it did rain for a brief moment but only to result in a rainbow. Congratulations Jacob and Marie!
